Roll out the green carpet!
The Motz Group started rolling out the green carpet at Memorial Stadium today! Just like carpet, the turf is rolled out, straightened, glued together and nailed down at the edge. Cool to the touch, the artificial turf will provide a huge advantage. Teams will no longer need to worry about muddy, sodden fields. The drainage system beneath the turf pulls away excess water and drains it to the school's new detention pond (currently under construction along Dixie Drive).
The turf should be in place by Friday. The crew from the Motz Group maintained an exceptionally good attitude, despite the 90-degree heat in which they were working.
More good news: work should begin on the stadium seating by the end of the week. The crew expects to begin excavating holes for the footers on Friday. They are currently creating the rebar structure that will support the concrete pylons.
